This website described (in far too much detail!) my dealings with EAS (the trading name of the company Energy and Security Ltd), after they botched a window installation and caused significant damage to my house in 2013. The cracks in the picture above appeared in our bedroom the day that EAS’ fitters replaced the bay window in the downstairs room beneath our bedroom. They were the first sign of the mess that EAS had made of the job–and the beginning of a long, expensive battle with the company. That battle ended in 2017 when the company went bust, with me still out of pocket and with work unfinished. A similarly named company (EAS Windows Ltd) succeeded EAS, using the same branding and initially using the same premises. It was dissolved in February 2019, yet a company of the same name still appears to be trading near Belgrave. I am told it has no connections with the original EAS
It turned out that I wasn’t alone in getting this treatment from EAS and a significant number of customers aired their concerns in angry reviews on various websites. Just click here to get a sample of those! It didn’t come as any surprise, therefore, to read that the company behind EAS (called Energy and Security Ltd) had gone “into administration”–or gone bust, as most people might say. To find out more about what happened to the company and what was said about the company in the liquidator’s report, go to the page Bye EAS!
It turned out that EAS had failed to make a decent job of supporting the bay above the window they were replacing . The upstairs bay (which was sitting on that downstairs window) cracked away from the main wall of the house. And not just the brickwork!! As it moved, it pulled the upstairs bay window away from the wall and out of true.
It took months of hassle, and needed me to pay for an independent structural engineer, before EAS even started to sort the problem. EAS refused to pay the costs of my engineer and wouldn’t cover the full costs of the re-decoration that was needed. The job was never ever finished–EAS went into administration, leaving me and who knows how many other customers out of pocket.
But of course, it’s not that uncommon for limited companies to go bust. The owners walk away from their debts and their obligations to customers. Then, lo and behold, the company pops up again, often doing exactly the same.
And guess what?-that’s what seemed to happen to EAS–except that, usually, companies that scive out of their debts and obligations by going bust, at least have the wit to change their names when they come back to life. But not EAS Windows Ltd! (not to be confused with the defunct Energy and Security Ltd). It used the same vans, the same offices, the same website, the same logos, even the same sweatshirts–whilst all along going out of the way to proclaim it was under new management.
Is it any wonder that EAS Windows Ltd seems to have gone bust too. It doesn’t take an expensive accountant or business consultant to figure out why, does it?!
So maybe it’s all history now? But if you’ve got a taste for watching car crashes, just read on. Find out all about the failings, mess and stress I had to put up with from EAS. Read the short version of what we had to put up with on the rest of this page–and, if you’ve really got a taste for gory detail you can get way too much information by looking at the other pages on the site.
If you want to see more of the damage that EAS did, then why not click on See my cracks. If you go to Mess and Stress you can find out more about exactly what EAS got wrong–and the battle I had to get a repair that was actually fit for purpose.
Click on the link to my YouTube video and I’ll show you the scene of the disaster, talk you through what EAS got wrong–and the hassle and stress it’s taken to get it sorted (and it’s still not over).
WHY EAS? I thought I’d support a local firm. Probably a better price than the big names–and probably a better service and product??? And if things went wrong–then a local firm would want to sort it all out quickly and efficiently–wouldn’t they??? EAS Windows–just up the road from where I live– seemed the obvious choice!
I COULDN’T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!!!! So here on this website is a full account of EAS’ double glazing disaster. Over 36 months later the job still isn’t finished and I’m over £500 out of pocket.
If you want the full story check out the other pages. And then you decide if you would have chosen to use EAS Windows!!! Of course, I might just have been unlucky, or maybe I’ve got wildly unrealistic expectations. So look at what other customers have said about EAS on other websites. Just click here to find out about their experience. If you’re thinking twice about using EAS, look at the alternatives page for details of a couple of local firms that actually do a good job and are a pleasure to do business with.
IF YOU’VE HAD WORK DONE BY EAS–take the survey and give your feedback. You might also want to post a review on any of these other review sites.
Windows fine but finishing off rubbish. Took multiple return visits to resolve and we had to take lots of time off. When you sre both contractors that equates to a lot of lost day rates!!!
One window hadnt been measured properly so didnt fit but they didnt find out until the old one had been taken out.
